Easy Appetizer: Warm Goat Cheese Spread
Well, the Easy Appetizers blog is all about… easy appetizers! And this one wins for being the easiest! Plus, it’s soooooo delicious and tastes like you spent more than the 15 or 20 minutes it takes to bake it.
Be ready when friends stop by with this warm, hearty and easy appetizer made from grocery store ingredients. It’ll keep for weeks.
Even on hot days, this very satisfying and tasty goat cheese spread will melt in your mouth. I’ve tried it with goat cheese and then I’ve tried it with Feta cheese. I can’t tell which way I like it best! The goat cheese gives it a creamier texture which is wonderful, and the Feta has that nice sharpness to the flavor that I’ve always liked. You choose! Enjoy and tell me what you think!
What you’ll need:
- 8 to 12 oz. of goat cheese or feta, broken into large chunks
- 2 to 3 tsp. of olive oil
- 4 to 5 sprigs of fresh thyme
- 1/2 tsp. of whole pink peppercorns
- sliced baguette or crackers, for serving
What to do:
Place the cheese of your choice in a small ovenproof dish and bake it at 325 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until it gets that lovely golden brown crust on top.
Remove the dish from the oven, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with fresh thyme (if desired) and whole pink peppercorns. Serve with sliced baguette or crackers. And have an Oh-my-God moment…
